Chika Hyodo is currently working as an assistant professor at Hirayama Ikuo Volunteer Center, Waseda University (WAVOC); mainly organizing student volunteer works in Asia and Japan. Since the great earthquake in Tohoku Japan in 2011, she has heavily been involved in the project which supports the victims in Fukushima. Her major in academia is gender and health, and her interests are the issues of minority and stigma in the society. Ms. Hyodo has conducted various research projects and NGO movements in this field for more than fifteen years.
Prior to her work in Waseda University, she was a visiting scholar at Michigan University in the USA and worked in the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Thailand as an international fellow. She was a member of the evaluation team for various NGO projects.
