Hironori Kawauchi

Hironori Kawauchi is the Senior Economist at the World Bank, since August 2010. Prior to assuming his office, Mr.Kawauchi was in charge of fiscal, financial, and macro-economic affairs as the Director and Deputy Director in various positions at the Ministry of Finance of Japan. He has held a number of other assignments in the Japanese Government and the World Bank as follows: He served as the DIrector at Cabinet Office of Japan from 2007 to 2009 and was in charge of economic and fiscal policy management. He was the Deputy Director of the Japan-US Security Treaty Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1997 to 1999. He was also the Senior Advisor to the Japanese Executive Director at the World Bank from 2003 to 2006. Mr. Kawauchi obtained Master of Arts in Public Policy from the University of Chicago and Bachelor of Law from the University of Tokyo.
