Nobuhiko Hibara

Nobuhiko Hibara is Associate Professor of Finance, School of Business Administration, Ritsumeikan University, Kyoto, Japan. Previously, he was Associate Professor of Finance, Edwards School of Business, University of Saskatchewan, Canada and worked with the World Bank and Bank of Tokyo. His areas of interest are in financial intermediation, banking, venture capital, and corporate finance. Research topics include moral hazard and credit crunch in bank lending markets, effects of venture capital involvement in the IPO process, and the creation of venture capital industry. He earned his Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from Columbia University and his B.A. at the University of Tokyo. He was named Inamori Fellow, Inamori Foundation (2008-2009) and awarded Sumitomo Corporation of America Doctoral Fellowship (1998-2002) and President’s Fellow, Columbia University (1997-1998). He is an operating adviser to USJI.
