Professor, Center for the Promotion of Excellence in Higher Education, Kyoto University
Dr. Iiyoshi works with various national and international initiatives and organizations in an advisory role to provide vision and leadership in the development and diffusion of innovative use of technology in education. Formerly, he was a senior scholar and Director of the Knowledge Media Laboratory at the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching (1999-2008), and Senior Strategist in the Office of Educational Innovation and Technology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2009-2011). He is a co-editor of the Carnegie Foundation’s book, Opening Up Education (2008, MIT Press) and has held visiting professor appointments at the Center for Graduate Education Initiative of Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies at the University of Tokyo. He also served as a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Technology and Education.
