Abstract

In his policy speech in February 2013, Prime Minister Abe explicitly announced that he would place emphasis on the strengthening of the U.S.-Japan alliance and on scientific innovation. In this light, Minister Shimomura of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology will comment the current status and challenges of science and technology in the modern era of expanding globalization, as well as on the future of joint science technology developments between the U.S. and Japan under the Abe administration.
