In 2022BMW will debut not only the new BMW i7 (presentation expected on April 20) but also the BMW iX1 based on the new generation of the BMW X1. A highly anticipated model as it should become, with the retirement of the BMW i3, the “entry level” model of the electric range of the German manufacturer. We have talked about the BMW iX1 several times over the last few months thanks to a series of spy photos that have immortalized the car’s forklifts during the classic road tests.
Now, there are some interesting news. During the BMW annual conference, the CEO Oliver Zipse showed a first teaser of the new BMW iX1. It is a sketch showing a part of the front that has some elements reminiscent of the BMW i3S.
Even more interesting is the fact that a page dedicated to this model has been opened on the BMW sites where it is possible to observe the teaser and other details again. Below, BMW also mentions i consumption and autonomy of the new car. Values, it is emphasized, provisional, based on the development of the model. So, according to what is reported, the future BMW iX1 should have one distance of 413-438 km according to the WLTP cycle, with energy consumption of 18.4-17.3 kWh / 100 km.
On the page it can also be read that the BMW iX1 will have a powertrain fifth generation eDrive and that, later, a Plug-in version will also arrive. Therefore, very interesting details. Furthermore, we already know that the new electric will be based on the FAAR platform. The passenger compartment, on the other hand, will be able to count on a lot of technology. We will find, for example, the new iDrive 8 system already seen on the latest BMW electric cars such as the i4.
All that remains is to wait for more information on this new electric car. The presentation is expected by the end of the year.
